Happy Halloween, All!

For all you parents out there..........is it ok if I give your trick-or-treating kids fruit on tuesday? I dont really believe in handing out candy to kids who are probably already over-dosed on over-processed, over-sweet, over-salted food(not YOUR kids, precisely. just in general).........but according to this post on slashfood, it would make me a party-pooper! I am not!!! But I also dont think that "one night of the year you can binge" is a good message to give!

Help!

Parents will throw away any fruit, not because it's not good for the kids but because there have been too many scary incidents with razor blades, etc.

giving kids fruits on halloween might chase them away and you might get a rep in your neighborhood as being 'the fruit lady';-)...it might be better to post a sign saying that you arent passing any candy out or just turn off all the lights so they wont come to your house at all...but then - yeah - you would prob. be termed a party-pooper...so umm how about chocolate covered fruits?? or popcorn?? or sugar-free candy (they will prob. never be able to tell the difference)...

It's not the time to preach abt nutrition, G!!:D:D

In NC, all treats which are un sealed and non pre packaged are banned.Kids are not allowed to eat them until they go home and candies are inspected by parents! fun is gone after 9/11.Any apples or fruits are tossed in the bin here:( Don't waste ur money..

You can give them mini packs of popcorn.Kids live for the candies tonight and next 2 days:))
Have fun...

Ok Fine! I caved! I actually TREKKED 0.6 miles to get candy for downstairs kids! And they didnt even have a trick ready! Still, I did my bit to add to their delight.

Thanks, all of you! I really didnt know abt the safety measures!

G I am late in offering Halloween but maybe for next year, some in the neighborhood gave out crayons, pencils and erasers and seeing my daughter's and her friend's reaction they were glad to get those too.
